Simon Adams is a partner in the Corporate Services Group.
Simon practices in commercial law with particular emphasis on electricity, gas and competition law.
Prior to joining Lavan Legal, Simon was the senior legal counsel for the Electricity Retail Corporation, trading as Synergy, where he was primarily responsible for advising on and managing the company’s legal affairs in relation to gas, electricity procurement, electricity networks, trade practices and litigation.
Simon advises a wide range of commercial clients and regulators in the areas of electricity, energy and resources, third party access to gas, rail and water infrastructure and on competition law. Simon has particular experience in the Western Australian wholesale electricity market, including having recently drafted the new rules creating the balancing and load following markets.
Before Synergy, Simon was a senior associate with Jackson McDonald and prior to that at Corrs Chambers Westgarth where he practiced in the areas of electricity, energy and resources, third party access to gas, electricity and rail infrastructure, trade practices, administrative law and litigation.
While at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Simon advised and represented the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on enforcement actions under the then Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth).
